The definitive country house retreat, The Manor House is a stunning 14th-century luxury hotel in Chippenham set in 365 acres of secluded parkland. From romantic nights away to fairytale weddings, the hotel offers Michelin-starred dining, a dedicated gin bar and its own 12th century pub in nearby Castle Combe. A short buggy ride takes you to the hotel's championship golf course.
Activities at the hotel include putting, tennis, croquet and fly fishing in season.
ACCOMMODATION
Rest your head in one of the 50 wonderfully indulgent bedrooms, with no two the same. All are individually styled each with their own special features and all oozing five star luxury. Combining the traditional with modern, each room has luxury toiletries, tea/coffee making facilities and a pillow menu.
DINING
The award-winning Michelin-starred Bybrook Restaurant has a diverse, imaginative menu and the hotel's very own pub, The Castle Inn, in the heart of the village, serves traditional pub food from 12pm to 9pm every day. The oak-panelled Full Glass Bar has a relaxing atmosphere.

Cosy rooms
Comfy, warm and intimate, cosy rooms are located in the Main House or in the picturesque row of Mews Cottages adjacent to the hotel. No two rooms are the same. All are beautifully appointed with a queen or king sized bed, sublime handmade mattresses, breathable hand finished duvets and an in-room tablet, ensuring everything you need for a wonderful stay is at your fingertips.
Traditional rooms
Larger than the Cosy rooms, Traditional rooms are spacious, timeless and classic. Located in the Main House or in the Mews Cottages, each room is unique. They offer outstanding comforts with each room boasting its own unique feature including a relaxing seating area, grand wooden carved four poster beds, luxurious roll top baths and uninterrupted views of the stunning grounds. An in-room tablet ensures you have everything you need for a wonderful stay at your fingertips.
Plush rooms
Spacious, indulgent and contemporary, these rooms are located in the Main House or the picturesque row of Mews Cottages adjacent to the hotel. Refurbished to an exceptionally high standard, all are unique and beautiful. Luxurious bathrooms, some with infinity and Jacuzzi baths, lavish furnishings and even your very own patio area, the Plush rooms have a variety of extra special features to choose from.
Cottage suites
Upper Park Lane is a recently-converted two-storey 14th century cottage, located just beyond the hotel's exit gate in the village. Your very own front door leads to a lounge area featuring an Inglenook fireplace and log burner. Upstairs you’ll find a luxurious super king-sized bed and lavish bathroom with a walk-in shower, twin sinks, a freestanding bath and plasma television.
Golden Leigh Cottage is a contemporary one storey cottage located in what used to be home to the estates horses. You will find a spacious lounge area with a beautiful bay window, the perfect place to relax and plan your adventures around the Cotswolds. Next door, separated from the lounge, is the bedroom, complete with a unique wrought iron four poster bed and all the comforts you’ll need for a refreshing night's sleep. The modern bathroom features a luxurious bath, large walk-in shower and an ornate stained glass window, perfectly combining the old and the new.
The second of the contemporary cottages, Marsh Furlong Cottage is located at the end of the row of mews cottages, a stone's throw from the village. It includes a log-burning stove, beautiful vaulted ceiling bedroom, large walk-in shower and luxurious free-standing bath. The room also boasts a quaint outside seating area to the side of the property, perfect for watching the world go by on a warm English summer's day.
Brune Cottage is a traditional two-storey cottage located in the beautiful row of mews cottages adjacent to the hotel. Features include a well-appointed bathroom with a luxurious Jacuzzi bath and twin sinks; a beautiful bedroom in the eaves of the cottage; a hand carved wooden four-poster bed and all the amenities you need for a relaxing night's sleep.
Master suites
A two-storey suite on a grand scale, Ludlow Cottage has a working fireplace, four-poster bed and small garden. The Lordsmeer Suite, located in the Main House includes views of the grounds, contemporary bathroom and super king-sized bed. Archway Cottage boasts a wood-burning stove, super king-sized bed with ornate wrought iron bedstead, characteristic lattice windows and views over Castle Combe village.
Archway is connected to the Marsh Furlong suite through a connecting door in the lounge. If both Archway and Marsh Furlong are taken as a joint booking, this provides a private cottage with a garden, perfect for families.

The Manor House is close to many major motorways, with Bristol Airport just 40 minutes by car. Central London is 75 minutes by train; the closest railway station is Chippenham, which is a 20-minute drive. Chauffeur transfers are available; there are 60 free car parking spaces at The Manor House, as well as a helipad.

The Roman Baths
One of the most visited heritage attractions in the UK, the Roman Baths, at the heart of the city of Bath World Heritage Site, consists of the remarkably preserved remains of one of the greatest religious spas of the ancient world. The city’s unique thermal springs rise in the site and the Baths still flow with natural hot water.
Visitors can explore the Roman Baths, walk on the original Roman pavements and see the ruins of the Temple of Sulis Minerva. The museum collection, located next to the bathing complex, includes a gilt bronze head of the Goddess Sulis Minerva, and other Roman artefacts.

Bath Abbey
There is nowhere else quite like Bath Abbey. Magnificent stained-glass windows, columns of honey-gold stone and some of the finest fan vaulting in the world, create an extraordinary experience of light and space.
But there is more to it than that. There has been a place of Christian worship on this site for over 1,200 years and the Abbey remains a living church with services taking place throughout the entire week.
Tower Tours (every day except Sunday) offer the chance to go behind the scenes and enjoy stunning views of the city. You will also get to visit the Abbey bell and ringing chamber, sit behind the clock face and stand on top of the Abbey’s vaulted ceiling.

Bristol Zoo

Bowood House & Gardens
Discover the rich and fascinating history of Bowood House and the Lansdowne family, set within 100 acres of beautifully landscaped ‘Capability’ Brown parkland. Surrounding the Georgian House is the Italian-inspired Terrace Garden, the Private Walled Gardens and the herbaceous border, all radiating colour throughout the seasons. Taking its name from the river that runs through the hotel grounds, Michelin-starred The Bybrook restaurant in Chippenham enjoys the most beautiful of settings, blended with a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. Headed up by executive chef, Robert Potter, the brigade of talented chefs create delicious, seasonal dishes crafted from local ingredients, enhanced by wines of the world expertly matched by the knowledgeable sommelier, to deliver an impressive and unforgettable dining experience.

The Full Glass Bar
Add a touch of glamour and sophistication to your day or evening and follow in the footsteps of Margaret Thatcher, who wrote her memoirs while she relaxed in the Full Glass Bar, which is full of seductive oak panelling, dramatic views and polished personality. Order a classic cocktail or a tipple from the gin menu or wine list, before you take a seat in one of the inviting large sofas and comfy leather chairs.

The Castle Inn
Dating back to the 12th century, this beautiful historic building has been extensively and considerately restored; whilst sympathetic to the ancient structure, the refurbishment has included the installation of many contemporary facilities ensuring guests can enjoy the utmost comfort, care and attention.
Pop in for a quiet pint, sit back and enjoy a comforting home cooked meal or settle in for the night with a delicious dinner followed by a great night’s sleep in one of the 12 welcoming bedrooms and a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day ahead.
With a menu of homemade comforting meals, lighter bites and cream teas daily, you can find a comfy spot in the bar, the snug, the conservatory or outside in the courtyard on sunny days.
The Clubhouse
The circular layout of the buzzing Clubhouse means that all the facilities are readily to hand; the luxurious lounge bar offering a delicious Great British Menu; a lively spike bar, and a patio overlooking the opening hole. Drop in for a bite to eat, an early evening pint or two or working lunch.
